THIS IS AN DETAILED PAGE ON MY WEATHER STATION(S) SETUP.
I have two weather stations. The original station is a Radio Shack WX 200
(No longer made by Radio Shack but Oregon Scientific makes a clone) that I received as a Christmas
gift on December 25,1997. This remained my primary station until January 2001 when I purchased a Davis Weather Monitor II(WM II). My Davis WM II became fully operational on March 7th, 2001 when the
Weatherlink was hooked my to my computer.
My weather stations where originally connected to an Emachines 366i2/400ix Etower which has been upgraded to Pentium Celeron 533 Mhz running Windows 98. The Weather Station software I am using is
Weather View 32. My data is logged every minute to my computer. The Davis WM II data is uploaded every 10 minutes to
Weather Underground & Anything Weather; every 15 minutes to Mesowest
; every 5 mins to the Citzens Weather Observer Program (CWOP) and hourly to
Coolwx.com User Observation Page (formely hosted at PSU & FSU) via a perl script and every 30 mins to my website, Macclenny Weather Observatory.
The Radio Shack WX 200 data is uploaded only to my web server every half hour.
As of June 2006, both weather stations are on seperate computers as not overkill the computer as the weather station programs advance in computing power.
This Davis is connected to a newer Antec Outside Computer Tower with the following:
AMD Athlon 2.0 GHz Processor running Win XP
1 GB of RAM (Memory)
37.2 GB Hard drive
16 MB NVIDA Video Card
Dlink Wireless Network Adapter
Weatherview 32 7.0
This Radio Shack is connected to the an older Gateway G6 366c Tower (was HP Pavillion Tower - May 2005) and upgraded to have the following:
366 MHz Pentium II Processor running Win XP
256 MB of RAM (Memory)
(1) 10.2 GB Hard drive & (1) 9 GB Hard drive
4 MB ATI Video Card
Dlink Wireless Network Adapter
Weatherview 32 5.0
Both computers share a single monitor using Belktin dual computer sharing port.
