The drought of 2006-07 continues into Sept. entering its 19th month/w Sept. slightly cooler
and wetter than normal. It was -0.3º above normal for the avg. temp and -1.94" deficit for the
month and +1.89" surplus for the year but there is still a -7.09" deficit from last yr. The
first week of the month was dry becoming wet with summertime convection until the 17th when the
first of two nor'easters set-up. The first event lasted from 17th-21th and brought beneficial
amount of rain. Flooding, heavy rain occurred to the east and se over coastal NE FL. The second
occurred at the end of the month on the 29-30th.

From NWS Jax September 2007 climatological summary for Jacksonville Florida:

"However...Nor'easter conditions on the 17th through the 21st and again at the end of the month
brought heavy rains to several coastal areas...mainly from Jacksonville Beach southward. Rainfall
amounts ranged from16 to over 22 inches. Flooding was a problem for coastal communities from
Jacksonville to Flagler Beach. Northeast winds and high astronomical tides
hindered drainage along with causing beach erosion. Between nor'easters a red tide plagued the
beaches from Fernandina Beach south to near St Augustine.

US Drought Monitor started as DO - Abnormally Dry over the eastern half of the county and
D1 - Moderate Drought over the western half of the county on Sept 4. On Sept 11, the eastern
2/3rds improved to DO - Abnormally Dry & D1 - Moderate Drought over the western 1/3 of the
county and persisted until Sept 25 when the whole county improved to D0 - Abnormally Dry.

The highest temp. occurred on the 9th @ 92.9°F. The lowest temp was 64.3 on the 30th. The highest
peak wind of 26 mph occurred on 26th during first nor'easter.
