**=all time record

The rainfall was slightly above normal in Jan & Feb with an unusual
wet winter. By March, the drought set in. 15% of normal rainfall
occurred in March. This occurred through the dry season and into
the wet summer months and back into the dry season again.
April and Sept. where the worst (-3.68" & -3.48" below normal
respectively). Only 2 months had above normal rainfall during
the drought period from March-Dec; July & Dec. (+1.41" & +1.20"
above normal). From late March to late May, the Drought Index
was DO or Abnormally Dry. This lasted until July and
persisted through the rest of the year, increasing from D0 to D1/
Moderate Drought in Early August, improving to D0 by end of Aug.
and increasing back to D1 by Early October. By the End of Nov.,
its reached is worst level of the entire period, D2 or Severe
Drought and remained at the level through Dec. Pea-sized/1"
diamter hail was observed in Feb & Aug. Overall, winter
was normal with 10 freezes but summer was warmer than the
2 previous, reaching the century mark for the first time in
3 summers. 101.3ºF occured in May and was the warmest temp.
of the year. April featured a 97.7ºF reaching, early for
mid-late spring and June recorded 98.5ºF. The warmth
continued into October with it being the last month to
record a 90ºF day (89.7ºF). 102 90ºF+ days where recorded
from April through October. Much like 2005, hurricane season
didn't offer much in terms of the weather. Tropical Storm
Alberto affected the area in mid June, producing the bulk
of the month rainfall of 5.94" from 11th to 15th and highest
1-min avg of 21 mph for the year. The highest peak wind occurred
in April on 26th when a weaking squall line produced a peak wind
of 35 mph.
