June continues the drought of 2006 into late spring/early summer with avg temp. slightly
below normal and rainfall continuing below normal for the month & year. A unusal feat
occured: a record low was tied on the 7th @ 55ºF and record hi set 3 days later @ 101ºF.
Recording 101ºF makes 100º+ for 2 yrs in a row now (2005-2006). 6 days of Red Flag
conditions where observed which is unusual for this time of year. The bulk of the monthly
rainfall occurred during the 2 day period when Tropical Storm Alberto passed 6/12-6/13.
The highest peak wind was during a squall proceeding Alberto on the evening of the 11th.
Winds gusted above 20 mph for 15 mins straight before recording 32 mph. Highest 1-min
avg was during Alberto at 21 mph on the 13th.
