The drought of 2006 continues into July. The synoptic pattern was still being dictated by the Westerlies
aloft which either brought a warm & dry High or shortwave troughs/w weakening stationary fronts
which brought beneficial rain (most of it fell 2 days 5.60" & 1.44") with 7 days of measureable rain.
The typical sea-breeze convergence rainfall didn't start til the mid to end of the month. Despite
the above normal rainfall for the month the rainfall total for the year is still -4.66". The drought
situation at the end of the month was still be assessed as D0 or Abnormally dry for NE and
North Central FL. July came close to recording back to back 100º months, reaching 99ºF on the 16th and
a near record low of 62º on the 9th. The highest peak wind wasn't observed until the last day
of the month, which was 31st. The last 2 sundays of the month & the 31st saw massive
t-storms blow up and go around the station and affect areas to the S-E with wind gusts 40+.
